This is an On - Ride Front Seat POV of Fury 325 at Carowinds North - South Carolina in HD. Thanks for watching TheCoasterViews! Fury 325 is a steel roller coaster at the Carowinds amusement park located in Charlotte, North Carolina and Fort Mill, South Carolina. Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, it reaches a maximum height of 325 feet (99 m) making it the tallest and fastest Giga Coaster in the world and the 5th tallest overall. During the ride, riders reach speeds up to 95 miles per hour (153 km/h), go through high-speed curves, and pass over and under the park's main entrance. In September 2013, the Charlotte City Council discussed plans for a proposed roller coaster in one of its meetings and it was revealed the ride would cost approximately $30 million. In a closed-session meeting, it was mentioned that the roller coaster would stand 70 feet (21 m) higher than the park's Intimidator roller coaster which stands at 232 feet (71 m), meaning the new coaster would be 302 feet (92 m) high. On October 18, January 23, 2014, and June 9, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, the owners of Carowinds, filed trademark applications for the names Centurion, Fury, and Fury 325. In February, the Centurion trademark was suspended after another trademark application using the same name was found by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In July, the blueprints for Fury 325 were leaked showing the exact layout of the roller coaster. At the beginning of August, the park sent a beekeeper to deliver a partially burnt bug net with a card saying, "you're gonna need a much bigger net to capture the thrills of the 2015 Carowinds season", to several media outlets in the Charlotte area. On August 12, a microsite on Carowinds' website was found advertising a new ride called Centurion. A similar hoax was conducted by Kings Island leading up to the announcement of Banshee in 2013.

Patents, Inventions and Black History; Exploring the beginnings of the patents, Inventions and Black History This is a brief history in four part series on patents. Inventions and black history. Many inventions or improvements to them were made or done by slaves because they did the work. They were intelligent, resourceful and creative even with limited resources. Many have tried to discredit or lie about inventions, patents and accomplishments made by African Americans. All of this knowledge that could have been used to help so many was destroyed by slave owners and laws. They tried to kill the knowledge and past by trying to destroy the history of the people they enslaved. The one thing they could not shackle or destroy was the minds and the strength and determination of the slaves. Patents, inventions and black history are as much a part of the American fabric as other cultures. As time passed many slaves who did the work would invent things to make the work more efficient for them. Nothing was ever easy so they had to use their smarts, will power and creativity to try to make the best out of horrible conditions and times for them. That is why they had unofficial patents and inventions that they used to make the work less harmful and quicker for them. Since slaves under the law were noncitizens or human property they could not receive patents for things they invented or made new improvements on. So many times slave owners attempted to file a patent for inventions or improvements to inventions they were not responsible for. Often times if they could not get the patent they would just begin making the product design or process for financial gain for themselves. This series explores how the patent office, laws and slave owners prevented patents for slave’s works to be credited to them. Many have not been given credit or acknowledgement for what they have done. The history books do not reflect the contributions that have been made by all people in the building of America.

The facility has six assembly cells , a feeder line area , and a robot holding area. Each cell is used to assemble one fuselage. The feeder line area is the area where fuselage materials are received. Idle robots are located in the robot holding area. A first cradle is moved (via an underlying automated guided vehicle (AGV)) into the feeder line area . The first cradle after it has been moved into a first one of the six assembly cells . The assembly cell is selected based on rate and firing order. This selection controls the path and timing of all the movements by the AGVs in order to avoid collisions. Then a fore keel structure is moved into the feeder line area . The fore keel structure and subsequent components may be transferred to the feeder line area in large transportation/shipping fixtures, which may be moved by fork trucks. The gantry is then positioned over the fore keel structure. The gantry raises the fore keel structure and moves that structure over the cradle and lays the fore keel structure onto the cradle. The gantry may have a vision system for locating the initial position of the structure on the cradle. The gantry vision system may also be used for collision avoidance. In the meantime, a mid keel structure is being moved into the feeder line area. The gantry then moves the mid keel structure and lays it over the cradle An aft keel structure is supplied and positioned on segment of the cradle. Then a floor grid is moved into the feeder line area. The gantry moves the floor grid and positions it onto the mid and aft keel structures. The gantry then moves fore, mid and aft side panels onto the keel structures. The gantry then moves nose, fore, mid and aft crown panels onto the side panels. A set of robots are commanded to move from the robot holding area to the first cell . The robots fasten the panels and keel structures. While the fastening operations are being performed, other fuselages may be assembled. A second cradle is moved to a second assembly cell . Similarly multiple fuselages may be built at the same time. When assembly of a fuselage has been completed, the completed fuselage is moved off the floor by the cradle. The completed fuselage may then be moved to a location for cleaning, sealing and painting. Let us know your thoughts on what do you think about this automation revolution. It seems inevitable, yet it has huge implications for human survival. Let’s talk about that. From aerial surveillance to armed attacks, drones are creating a sweeping impact. And with this innovation from Boeing, drones are all set to literally enter uncharted waters. That’s right; a drone that can fly and also take a nosedive into water. Air-crafts and underwater-crafts are different kinds of creatures. One is efficient at flying, the other at swimming. But Boeing’s submersible drone aims to be efficient at both! The drone described in the patent achieves this by physically transforming from an air-craft to an underwater-craft. First a carrier aircraft takes the drone near to the target location. The drone is equipped with wings, stabilizer and a set of propelling blades to enable it to fly efficiently. However, these parts do not aid when driven underwater. On the contrary, they are dead-weight and increase drag underwater. So, upon entering water, these parts are automatically separated from the drone. This is akin to the separation of a rocket booster that has been spent and is no longer required for the rest of the journey. The separation is achieved by triggering explosive bolts that keep these parts attached to the drone. Another technique is to use water soluble glue to hold these parts together so that upon contact with water, the glue dissolves and separates the wings, the stabilizer and the propelling blades from the body of the drone. Once underwater, the drone is driven with another set of propelling blades to carry out reconnaissance or payload delivery. Since the parts used while in flight are separated, the drone is much lighter and can efficiently travel greater distances. After completion of the required operation, the drone is elevated to the surface of the water by controlling water level in the buoyancy tank. From here, the drone may communicate the collected data back to a command station. While sky is the limit for regular drones, for these submersible drones the ocean floor is the limit! Patent Information US 9,010,678 Rapid deployment air and water vehicle Inventors: Hiller; Nathan (Irvine, CA) Applicant: The Boeing Company Appl. No.: 13/786,299 Filed : March 5, 2013 Abstract A vehicle which is adaptable for both flight and water travel includes: a body; a wing, a stabilizer, or a first propelling member; and at least one attachment member. The body is configured to fly through air and to move through water. The at least one attachment member attaches the wing, the stabilizer, or the first propelling member to the body while the body is in flight. The at least one attachment member detaches at least a portion of the wing, at least a portion of the stabilizer, or at least a portion of the first propelling member from the body when the body is in the water. Hey, I'm Desmond Layne, Peach Specialist at Clemson University. Welcome to the Clemson Tiger Peach Network. Today is May 27, 2011 and we're beginning our second season of "Everything About Peaches". This new series of videos that we are starting this year is going to be called "Peach Picks for South Carolina". Every week throughout the entire growing season we are going to be featuring those varieties that are best suited for growing in "the Tastier Peach State". We are here at my variety test block at James Cooley's Farm in Chesnee, SC. Our purpose today is to take a look at what I believe is the very best early season cultivar that we can grow here in our state. Let me show you, it is called Rich May -- and it also goes by the name Flavorich. In our research trials over the last 5 years, the performance of Rich May has been excellent. This cultivar was developed by Zaiger Genetics in Modesto, California. It was patented in 1991. The patent is no longer valid. But it typically ripens for us here in South Carolina somewhere between mid May and early June depending on where you are located in the state. For an early season peach, Rich May has excellent size. It averages about 2 ½ to 2 ¾ inches in diameter. They've got a very attractive uniform, round shape and an excellent red overcolor (or blush). The flesh color is yellow but there is some red pigmentation in the flesh and these are antioxidants so they are very healthy for you. Also, it is a melting flesh type and like most of the early season cultivars that we grow, it is clingstone. If you're like me, you're probably tired of eating apples and bananas and you're ready for something to excite your palate -- like an early season peach that's got that pizazz that reminds you of what you enjoyed last summer. So let's see if this one lives up to my expectations?! "Mmmm. Now that's a good peach!" Sweet, juicy, if I was to be eating any more of it, it would probably be dripping off my elbows. That's what you're looking for! Why not join us next week when we'll show you another "Peach Picks for South Carolina". You know, being a peach specialist is a tough job, but somebody's got to do it! 888 Flash back presents historical events with a twist. About this movie: Dr. John Gorrie patents a "refrigeration machine" - May 6, 1851 Dr. John Gorrie excelled in many areas; he was a humanitarian, a scientist, inventor and a doctor during his lifetime. Born in 1802, he grew up in South Carolina and studied medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the Western District of New York. He later relocated to Florida and became active in the community and was the chief physician for two Apalachicola-based hospitals. In an attempt to help cool the air in his hospitals, Gorrie began using compressor technology to create ice in 1842. He envisioned that one day his technology would be used to cool down the temperature of entire buildings. His 'ice maker' was based on research by Michael Faraday, a British scientist who found that compressing ammonia could cool down air when the ammonia evaporated. Gorrie's received a patent for this technology on May 6, 1851. Gorrie's invention later led to not only the modern day refrigerator but also to modern air conditioning techniques. He is known as the father of air conditioning and refrigeration technology. Unfortunately, his idea did not catch on at the time and he never saw the benefits from his invention.
